This painting is based off a portrait I took of my friend. As I know her as a person, she is incredibly caring and consistently considerate about the people in her life. She holds herself to quite a lofty standard in all aspects of life and I felt at one point as I was talking with her, she wasn't able recognize how kind she is and how I as her friend see her. This painting was my way to convey that to her. The top four sections of gold were my interpretation of the symbol Kokoro, which blends thoughts, emotions and spirit, to show one’s true heart.
