Butterflew

$1,000.00

As the first painting of the project, I tried to keep it simple. When I found myself explaining "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY", the example I found myself returning to was always a bright butterfly appearing from a grey box. I was sitting by a fountain in Fitzroy Garden thinking about someone I cared about. A butterfly landed on my hand for a moment before flying around the garden briefly until slipping out of view. I found the experience very beautiful. Oddly enough, the butterfly didn't have any patterns or vibrant colors. It was plain, white. It made me consider how beauty can be difficult to see, & is missed completely for any number of reasons; distracted with day to day tasks, we don't look beyond the surface, we don't bother looking at all, or maybe we are simply a grey square on a brick wall, waiting for someone to notice the color within us.
